The long-running comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is returning for a seventeenth season (!) and features notable crossovers this season.

In the trailer we see, among other things, a striking crossover with the popular sitcom Abbott Elementary. Where the Sunny crew previously showed up in episode nine of Abbott Elementary (titled Volunteers) to fulfill their community service, we now get the perspective of the Abbott characters who enter the world of Paddy’s Pub.

According to creator Quinta Brunson, this crossover felt “really natural and logical,” partly because both shows are rooted in different parts of Philadelphia. She also spoke highly of the collaboration with Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney, who actively worked on the episode.

Additionally, the trailer reveals that Danny DeVito’s character Frank Reynolds will take center stage in a parody episode of The Bachelor — this time set within the reality show’s real-world universe, with an appearance from Jesse Palmer, the official host of The Bachelor franchise.

In short, It’s Always Sunny Season 17 promises to stay true to the absurd, boundary-pushing humor that the show has been known for since 2005 — with new creative excursions, unexpected crossovers, and of course, plenty of chaos.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia returns for Season 17 on Wednesday, July 9, and the first official trailer promises a season that’s extraordinarily absurd. New episodes will air Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on FXX, and will be available the following day on Hulu.
