PBS has released the first trailer for The Forsytes, a new period drama based on the novels by Nobel Prize winner John Galsworthy.



The series The Forsythes, which has already been renewed for a second season, is set in 1880s London and tells a captivating story of love, ambition, and betrayal within the wealthy Forsyte family.

The drama follows events that take place before the well-known Forsyte Saga books by John Galsworthy and promises a lavish reinterpretation of the classic material.

The cast features Francesca Annis as Ann, the strong matriarch of the family, Stephen Moyer as Jolyon Forsyte Sr., Danny Griffin as Jo Forsyte Jr., Tuppence Middleton as Frances Forsyte, and Eleanor Tomlinson as Louisa Byrne.

Jack Davenport portrays James Forsyte, Joshua Orpin plays Soames Forsyte, Millie Gibson takes on the role of Irene Heron, and Tom Durant-Pritchard appears as Monty Dartie.

Additionally, there are prominent roles for Josette Simon as the wealthy heiress Ellen Parker Barrington, Jamie Flatters as architect Philip Bosinney, and Owen Igiehon as lawyer Isaac Cole. Susan Hampshire, who won an Emmy in 1967 for her role in the original BBC version of The Forsyte Saga, returns as Lady Carteret.

With this impressive cast and production, The Forsythes promises to become a new period drama obsession for MASTERPIECE enthusiasts. Watch the trailer below.
