The ride in New York has ended for ‘Taxi Brooklyn’: NBC has cancelled the series after one season and thus it will not return this summer.

Taxi Brooklyn’ follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh, Grey’s Anatomy), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido, Tropiques amers), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.

Taxi Brooklyn’ premiered on 14 April 2014 with just 5.34 million viewers, and the numbers didn’t get any better. The final of the series was on 12 May and afterwards it remained very quiet at NBC about the fate of this series. And that in itself is not a good sign, especially when the viewers were hoping that ‘Taxi Brooklyn’ would return for a second ride this summer.

Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word on ‘Taxi Brooklyn’s fate.”

Now NBC has made it official; ‘Taxi Brooklyn’ will not return. Do you think it is a pity that ‘Taxi Brooklyn’ has not been renewed?
