The role of the pastor has been played by several actors over the years: James Norton played Reverend Sidney Chambers in the first four seasons. Tom Brittney then took over as Will Davenport, who stayed on through season nine. Starting in season nine, Rishi Nair (pictured, right) joined as Alphy Kottaram, who would ultimately conclude the series.

In addition to these leading roles, the regular cast included Al Weaver (Leonard Finch), Tessa Peake-Jones (Mrs. C), Kacey Ainsworth (Cathy Keating), Oliver Dimsdale (Daniel Marlowe), Nick Brimble (Jack Chapman), Bradley Hall (Larry Peters), and Melissa Johns (Miss Scott).

In a farewell message, screenwriter, creator, and executive producer Daisy Coulam emphasized that Grantchester has always been, at its core, a series about the power of friendship and love. She spoke of how special it was that the cast and crew—many of whom were there from the beginning—reunited each summer to film the series, and thanked everyone involved, from writer James Runcie to the residents of the real-life Grantchester and everyone who supported the series. She concluded by saying that she will miss it all immensely.

Grantchester is based on the book series The Grantchester Mysteries by James Runcie. The series first aired on ITV in 2014. With its compelling stories, beloved characters, and atmospheric setting, the series has become a fixture for many viewers over the past decade.
