Sophia Bush will have a recurring role on Grey's Anatomy season 21

Sophia Bush has been tapped for a major recurring role on ABC's Grey's Anatomy.
This is the medical drama's most notable new role yet in the medical drama's 21st season. Bush, who will first appear in episode six of season 21, airing November 7, will play Dr. Cass Beckman, an amiable, fun and a bit messy trauma surgeon at Seattle Presbyterian whose husband David Beckman is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Grey Sloan. It's unclear if David, who is believed to be a minor character, has been cast yet.

Returning cast members of Grey's Anatomy in season 21 include Scott Speedman, Natalie Morales and the series' director/executive producer, Debbie Allen.

Bush (pictured) has experience in medical dramas - she played the title role, a heart surgeon, in the CBS series Good Sam, which she also produced. She also played the role of Detective Erin Lindsay in NBC's various Chicago One series, including Chicago PD, and was a regular face in The WB/CW's One Tree Hill.

Bush and Hilarie Burton Morgan, the original lead actress of One Tree Hill, will reprise their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer in a follow-up series to OTH, which is in development at Netflix.
