In the Miami of the 1970s and 1980s, Blanco's deadly mix of unsuspected cruelty and charm helped her skillfully navigate between business and family, making her widely known as "the Godmother."
Blanco broke into pop culture after her exploits were highlighted in Billy Corben's 2006 documentary Cocaine Cowboys and its sequel two years later. She was portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones in the Lifetime biopic Cocaine Godmother in 2018.
