Griselda - First episode

The atmosphere is set from the first scene. With earthy, warm tones, every setting is made perfect for Griselda.
Griselda is Netflix's latest hit based on a true story. This miniseries follows Griselda Blanco, 'The godmother of cocaine'. She was a key figure in Colombia's international drug trade. Griselda's story takes place in the late 1970s when she fled from Colombia to Miami and began her story as a drug lord. Netflix labels the series as a fictional dramatization based on true events. The extent to which we really delve into the life of Griselda Blanco remains to be seen, but one thing is certain. The series has barely been out for a week and has already received a lot of praise from viewers.

This miniseries used some well-known names. We see Vanessa Ferlito, known from the series NCIS: New Orleans, in the role of Carmen Gutiérrez. Sofia Vergara not only takes the lead role in this series, but is also the executive producer of Griselda. The well-known temperament of Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) fits perfectly in the role of Griselda Blanco. In this first episode we see the origins of drug baroness Griselda. How she tries to enter Miami's drug life with a kilo of cocaine and fights for herself. A woman who may initially be considered unworthy and rejected, but who stands her ground and fights for her place in that world. A world where she can support her family and stay away from her husband who uses her for his own purposes.

The atmosphere is set from the first scene. With earthy, warm tones, every setting is made perfect for this series. It fits perfectly with Griselda's background and life in both Colombia and Miami at the time. Although Griselda had enough money, we do not see this reflected in a rich and luxurious life. She lives for her family, to care for her three sons, and her life is more gruesome and bloody than luxurious. The real cartel life is shown here. Although it is questionable how much is reality, it gives us a good idea of Griselda Blanco's life. A very strong start to an interesting miniseries and certainly a must for Narcos fans.
