Heroes: Eclipsed was written by Kring and takes place years after the events of the original series. New evos awaken and discover powers that will change their lives. With familiar villains and new enemies who will once again try to suppress this next step in human evolution, it will be up to this new group of heroes to save the world.
The premise is reminiscent of the 2015 Heroes Reborn limited series, also created by Kring, which was also set years after the events of the original series and introduced a new group of evos as more ordinary people discovered they possess unique abilities.
The new characters were joined by Heroes' Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), who helmed the sequel. A number of original cast members made cameo appearances, including Sendhil Ramamurthy (Dr. Mohinder Suresh), Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura) and Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman).
Heroes ran for four seasons after a blazing start with a pop culture-defining first chapter "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" that earned the series an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. Both the original series and the limited series Heroes Reborn, which received lower ratings, aired on NBC. According to sources, the new incarnation of Heroes, which is intended as an ongoing series, has been pitched to NBC along with streamers.
Kring produces Heroes: Eclipsed with his manager, Mosaic's Jordan Cerf. Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group, which is behind the Heroes franchise, is the studio. A Uni TV representative declined comment.
