ABC recently unveiled the full trailer for High Potential, ahead of the series premiere on Tuesday, September 17.
The trailer immediately introduces Olson's character and showcases her unique skills as a detective, even though that's not her job. She clashes with the officers, who are both intrigued and annoyed by her. She soon gets a job.
Olson plays Morgan in High Potential, a single mother with three children and an exceptional mind. Morgan helps solve a crime that initially seems unsolvable. She does this by rearranging evidence during her shift as a police cleaner. So, once it is realized that she has an ability to put things in the right order, due to what is described as her "high intellectual potential", Morgan is asked to work as a consultant with a seasoned detective.
In addition to Olson and Daniel Sunjata, the cast of High Potential also includes Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev, Amirah J as Ava and Judy Reyes as Selena. It has also been confirmed that former Saturday Night Live actor Taran Killam will play Morgan's ex and the father of her children in a recurring role.
The ABC series, based on the French series HPI, begins with a small shift behind the scenes. Todd Harthan, who previously produced The Resident, takes over as showrunner from creator Rob Thomas.
High Potential was created by veteran television writer Drew Goddard, who produces with Sarah Esberg for Goddard Textiles. It should pair well with ABC's Will Trent season three, which is scheduled for 2025.
