High Potential gets second season from ABC

High Potential gets second season from ABC

ABC has given its groundbreaking new crime drama High Potential an early renewal for season two.
The Kaitlin Olson-starring procedural series joins ABC’s top comedy Abbott Elementary in the network’s 2025-26 schedule.

High Potential also joins CBS’s other premiere drama of 2024-25, Matlock (2024), which has been given an early renewal for season two. Both series were originally ordered for last season but were postponed due to the strikes.

High Potential

High Potential, created by Drew Goddard based on the French series HPI, has been a runaway success, with the first episode generating nearly 30 million viewers across all platforms to date.

The renewal news comes after High Potential returned on January 7, which topped the ratings in adults 18-49 after seven days of viewing across multiple platforms and delivered ABC’s largest audience for a drama in more than four years.

High Potential stars Olson as Morgan, a single mother with an IQ of 160 who works as a cleaner for the Los Angeles Police Department and becomes a consultant for the LAPD’s Major Crimes Unit.

The series also features Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb and Judy Reyes.
