Netflix cancels Hjem til jul after two seasons

Christmas lovers beware, in December 2021, you'll have to look for a different Christmas series. Hjem Til Jul is not going to return for its third season.

Despite the great success, Hjem til jul is not going to return for its third season. The series is known by most as Home for Christmas. Netflix has reported this through Norwegian media outlets.

In Hjem til jul, Johanne (Ida Elise Broch) finds herself in trouble after she lies to her family about having a boyfriend. Johanne wanted to get rid of the constant comments about her not being in a relationship. She decided to create an elaborate story. This didn't turn out as planned. It is expected of her to bring a boyfriend to the Christmas dinner to meet her family. Johanne then quickly tries to find a boyfriend to make sure it hasn't all been a lie.

Even though the series hasn't received a complete ending, the second season doesn't end on a cliffhanger. And thus, it has been decided to stop the series. Director Olav Sørensen also admits this. He is happy with all the positive reactions and is of the opinion that the story has been properly concluded.
