House of the Dragon season three begins filming, adds two new actors

The cast of HBO's House of the Dragon are back in front of the cameras in the UK for the next season. The fantasy drama series has begun filming for season three, which will again consist of eight episodes. The series has also announced two actors for the new season: Tommy Flanagan (pictured, Sons of Anarchy ) has been cast as Ser Roderick Dustin and Dan Fogler ( The Walking Dead ) as Ser Torrhen Manderly.



The production has also announced the directors of the new season: Clare Kilner (Fallout), Nina Lopez-Corrado (The Last of Us), Andrij Parekh (Succession) and Loni Peristere (Warrior (2019)).

The timing suggests that the new season will debut sometime in 2026.

They join the series’ extensive cast, which includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin and Abubakar Salim.

Flanagan played the role of Filip 'Chibs' Telford in all seasons of FX series Sons of Anarchy and in one episode of Sons spin-off Mayans MC (2018). He has also appeared in BBC's Peaky Blinders, HBO's Westworld, Netflix's Wu Assassins, Starz's Power Book IV: Force and last year's Netflix anthology series The Perfect Couple opposite Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber.



Fogler played the recurring role of Luke Abrams on AMC’s The Walking Dead from season nine until the end of the series, and played director Francis Ford Coppola in the Paramount+ miniseries The Offer. Last year, he starred in Netflix’s limited series Eric with Benedict Cumberbatch.

Based on the book Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin, the series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen.
