Peacock cancels thriller drama Hysteria! after one season

Peacock cancels thriller drama Hysteria! after one season

Peacock will not proceed with a second season of Hysteria!, sources have confirmed.
The news comes 3½ months after the eight-episode first season was released in its entirety on October 18. Canceling Hysteria! is not surprising, as the series starring Julie Bowen and Anna Camp has failed to make noise like other recent Peacock series, including The Day of the Jackal and Apples Never Fall.

16750 Hysteria!

The decision to make Hysteria! The cancellation follows the recent cancellation of another Peacock October release, horror drama Teacup.

Hysteria! is written and produced by Matthew Scott Kane and is set during the 'Satanic Panic' of the late '80s, when a beloved quarterback disappears. It follows a high school heavy metal band of outcasts who realize they can take advantage of the town's sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a satanic metal band. But when a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings and reported "supernatural activity" sparks a leather-clad witch hunt, it leads straight to them.

Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis and Nikki Hahn also co-star, with Bruce Campbell, Garret Dillahunt, Nolan North, Elijah Richardson, Milly Shapiro, Allison Scagliotti and Jessica Treska as guest stars.

Executive producers are John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, along with Chris Bender and Jake Weiner for Good Fear Content. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.

This one doesn't surprise me. I was done with it after three episodes. I thought that was a shame, because I thought the premise was pretty cool. But the execution was so standard and American that I quickly got tired of it.
