The British series is fearless, open and provocative. The new series, which features writer Michaela Coel as the lead character, will premiere on the 7th of June. The series investigates the matter of sexual consent in our modern lives. In the new landscape of dating and relationships, a distinction between freedom and exploitation has to be made.
Next to Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum, photo), the cast will further consist of Weruche Opia (Inside No. 9), Paapa Essiedu (Kiri), Aml Ameen (Yardie), Adam James (Belgravia), Sarah Niles (Catastrophe), Ann Akin (Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams), Harriet Webb (Plebs), Ellie James (Giri/Haji), Franc Ashman (Peep Show), Karan Gill (Flesh and Blood (2020)), Natalie Walter (Horrible Histories (2009)) and Samson Ajewole.
The series is a co-production between HBO and BBC, which will air on HBO worldwide, except for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Here, it will air on the BBC. The series will also be released on HBO NOW, GO, on-demand and other partnering platforms.
