Channel 4 unveils crime thriller In Flight about drug smuggling flight attendant

The new six-part series In Flight follows Jo (Katherine Kelly), a flight attendant who finds her life turned upside down when she is blackmailed into smuggling drugs when her son is arrested.
The series was created by Mike Walden and Adam Randall and directed by Chris Baugh. Also starring Stuart Martin, Ashley Thomas, Bronagh Waugh, Harry Cadby, Corinna Brown and Ambreen Razia.

“I'm really excited to take on the role of Jo and can't wait to tell her compelling story,” said Kelly (pictured). “I'm delighted to be working with Buccaneer Media again and it's great to be filming in Belfast.”

In Flight is our spin on the noir genre, a high stakes, stylish, romantic thriller with iconic characters and nerve shredding action,” said Walden and Randall in a statement. “Channel 4 is the perfect home for our story and we’re so excited to be collaborating with such a brilliant team. Jo is a character close to our hearts. She is an ordinary woman facing extraordinary odds. We can’t wait for audiences to meet her.”

Kelly's previous roles include ITV's Mr Bates vs The Post Office and ITV's Liar; and ITV1's The Long Shadow.

In Flight is produced by Buccaneer Media and has been bought for Channel 4 by head of acquisitions Polly Scates. Executive producers are Anna Burns, Tony Wood and Richard Tulk-Hart for Buccaneer, Rebecca Dundon and Simon Judd for Fremantle, Walden, Randall and Baugh. Brendan Mullin is producer and Gary Davy is the casting director.

The series is set in Bangkok, Bulgaria, Istanbul and London. Filming takes place in Belfast with financial support from Northern Ireland Screen.
