Marvel's The Inhumans - Season 1
I think that most movies and series based on Marvel property are amazing. I had never heard of The Inhumans before, until some time ago. I had missed all the fuss about this show. Apparently this show was known as a show that failed completely. In situations such as this I really want to form my own opinion. Did I agree with most reviews that this show was incredibly bad? I decided to have a look for myself.
In Agents of Shield we already encountered various Inhumans: a part of the human population that gains special powers due to a mutation in their DNA. This show follows a very specific faction of Inhumans. They've been living on the moon for quite some time, separated from the rest of humanity. King Black Bolt and Queen Medusa rule a colony of Inhumans on the moon and have done so successfully. After a coup, the family is forced to flee to Earth.
The show consists of eight episodes, and each episode lasts for approximately 45 minutes. After this first season, the show was cancelled. Let's start with what I didn't like: the script, the story was absolutely horrible. I thought it wasn't interesting and due to that I wasn't able to pay attention.
Together with the bad acting, this was all of a very poor level. The storyline could've been so much better. There's not a lot of action, a lack of character development and the interactions between characters aren't interesting at all.
The only aspect of this show I actually considered to be decent was the character who was portrayed by Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones). He portrays Maximus. He is an intelligent and diabolical Inhuman who's loyal to the people of Attilan (The colony on the moon) and to his brother, the king. He, however, has an intense desire to wear the crown himself, and he'll do anything to achieve that goal. I thought his character was very interesting and well portrayed.
Unfortunately I can't say that this is a show I'd recommend. I had fairly high expectations and this show didn't manage to live up to them. Pity.
