Insatiable will not have a third season at Netflix

In August 2018, Netflix released the first season of Unsatiable. It is a teenage comedy by Lauren Gussis, whom we know from Dexter and Once Upon a Time.

The second season of Insatiable released in October 2019. With the series, the streaming service hoped to reach many young viewers. Insatiable is about the lawyer Bob (Dallas Roberts) who becomes a beauty competition coach. He takes the vengeful, bullied teenager Patty (Debby Ryan) as his client and has no idea what will happen next. During her mission to take revenge, Patty appears to be willing to do all it takes.

In the second season we saw that Patty has a lot on her plate. Her past haunts her and her struggle to be "good" becomes more difficult every day as she fights against her inner demons. And Bob helps her to hide Christian's murder.

There will be no third season for Insatiable, The Hollywood Reporter reported last Friday. There was a lot of criticism on the first season of the series, because the storyline would promote a 'toxic diet culture'. Even before the series releasedin 2018, 288,000 people signed a petition in which Insatiable was accused of instigating an unhealthy food culture and portraying women's bodies as objects.

Lauren Gussis, the creator of the series, said in an interview that she had based the story on her own experiences with significant weight loss. There were virtually no reactions to Insatiable's second season. Apparently the number of viewers has fallen sharply and that has led to the decision to cancel the series.
