Second season Invincible confirmed to release in 2023

After a long absence, the hit adult animated series Invincible has now been confirmed to return for a second season in 2023.
The adult animated series, which appeared on Prime Video in March 2021 and is based on the superhero comic book by Robert Kirkman and artist Cory Walker, revolves around seventeen-year-old Mark Grayson. Although he comes across as a normal teenager, Mark must balance his own superpowers with the fact that his father - Omni-Man - is arguably the most unstoppable creature on the planet. It all builds to the monumental season finale of Invincible's first season, which revolves around a confrontational tipping point between father and son.

Invincible

That showdown premiered in April last year, which was the last time a new episode of Invincible was released. But now, after sharing news about Invincible season two back in January, the animated hit has been confirmed to debut in 2023. During an interview with Collider, Vernon Sanders - the head of television at Amazon Studios - said Invincible will return with new episodes in the coming year. An exact premiere date was not given.

The first season of Invincible prepares for the second season in major ways, ending with a montage of all the villains the heroic high school student must face. It also leaves Mark's relationship with Omni-Man in a shocking place. In the finals of Invincible, Omni-Man tries to convince Mark to join him. He fails, but overpowers his son with ease. In the process, Omni-Man leaves Chicago in ruins and brutally kills dozens of people. Even though Omni-Man eventually leaves Earth, moved enough by the love he feels for his family, the damage he causes is evident everywhere.

In terms of what else to expect from Invincible season two, Kirkman has spoken about the arrival of Angstrom Levy. In the comics, Levy is a man with the ability to travel to alternate realities. While little is known about when and how he gains these powers, he blames Mark for being mutilated and becomes a major recurring threat to the character. This indicates that the titular teen has his hands full with more than just the emotional and physical fallout from Omni-Man.
