IT: Welcome to Derry is set in the world of Stephen King's It universe and builds on the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films, which have grossed a total of 1.17 billion dollars worldwide.
The series is based on a story by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, which in turn is based on King's novel It.
In addition to Skarsgard, the cast includes Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, and Rudy Mancuso.
Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti serve as executive producers through their production company Double Dream, along with Fuchs via his FiveTen Productions, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Skarsgård, Shelley Meals, Lee, and Dan Lin. Fuchs, who wrote the script for the first episode, and Kane are co-showrunners.
