The series follows Detective Karen Pirie and her team as they unravel complex crimes. In the new season, she tackles a cold case from the 1980s.
The story revolves around the infamous 1984 kidnapping of Catriona and Adam Grant, a case that captivated both police and the public at the time. Catriona, a young heiress to an immense oil fortune, was violently abducted along with her two-year-old son, Adam, from a fish and chip shop in Fife. Despite several ransom notes and media hype, the trail went cold, and mother and child were never found.
Years later, everything changes when a man's body is found with undeniable ties to the kidnapping. With this first piece of evidence in decades, Karen must assemble a formidable team, assisted by the loyal and sympathetic Jason "Mint" Murray (Chris Jenks) and the brilliant but romantically complex Phil Parhatka (Zach Wyatt).
The international fame of the case and the constant pressure from Catriona's father, Sir Broderick Grant (James Cosmo), make this the biggest challenge of Karen's career. As she delves deeper into the events of the autumn of 1984, political feuds and painful secrets come to light, and it becomes clear that the past is far from over.
Karen Pirie season two premieres Thursday, October 2nd on BritBox. Check out more first-look photos and the trailer below.
