The two are diametrically opposed in their battle for the English throne. When William declares, "I am the true King of England," the stakes are immediately clear.
The series depicts not only the political and military power struggle, but also the personal lives of the two men. William is supported by his wife Matilda, played by Clémence Poésy, while Harold is assisted by Edith Swanneck, played by Emily Beecham.
The dynamic between these couples is a key element of the story, which highlights the rivalry and the human drama behind the battle.
King and Conqueror will be broadcast in the UK by the BBC, while Paramount Global Content Distribution is handling international sales on behalf of CBS Studios, which produces the series.
