Jasmine Cephas Jones has joined the cast of Lanterns, the upcoming HBO series based on the DC comic Green Lantern. Jones joins the previously announced cast of Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan and Ulrich Thomsen.
The series from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic agents who become entangled in a dark mystery on Earth while investigating a murder in the heart of America.
In a key guest role, Cephas Jones (pictured) plays Young Bernadette, Stewart’s resilient mother and forever the family fixer. She’s a perceptive thinker who demands excellence from herself and her family.
Cephas Jones’ recent television roles include Starz’s Blindspotting , for which she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Actress, #Freerayshawn , for which she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series, and HBO’s Mrs. Fletcher.
