Life Happens - Season 1
Life Happens is a Flemish television series that examines a Flemish family with all their joys and sorrows. In Life Happens we follow the ups and downs of a family for 24 episodes, where the pater familias is confronted with cancer. The youngest son returns from a foreign assignment. In Belgium, he starts to doubt whether or not he should start a new foreign adventure or whether he should stay in Flanders so that he can have more contact with his daughter. The eldest son is married to an ambitious woman who, without his knowledge, had an affair with her boss. That same boss now offers her a promotion. The man has another son and a pubescent daughter who discovers that she is attracted to girls. Her best friend is also her lover, but that relationship is one with ups and downs, so that the daughter, with enough alcohol in her body, still tries to get married and comes home pregnant. The daughter of the family is with a man with a gambling addiction. The couple has been trying to have children for years, but one attempt after another fails and because of her boyfriend's addiction there is no more money to make a new attempt.

With this synopsis of Life Happens you know that a lot is going to happen during those 24 episodes. Things that are taken straight from life but that, as is the case in series, are all thrown together. That is also the strength of such fictional series because they can confront the viewers with things that they have experienced themselves. And then we are not only talking about the sad things but also about joyful events.

The makers have also made sure that everything comes across as natural. It could just be a part of your neighbor's life. They have also made sure that there is a strong cast, including Heidi De Grauwe (Familie), Joris Van den Brande (Geldwolven), Sinay Bavurhe (Kameleon), Dries De Sutter (Onderhuids), Lotte Lesage (Thuis), Maarten Goffin (Spitsbroers) and Paulien De Bock (Meisjes).

About the writer, Karzal

Mike (1995) has been a member of MySeries since 2016 and is mainly active on the English version of the site. Since 2018, he has been actively translating news articles, columns, reviews and basically everything that ends up on the Dutch site. The original articles, columns and reviews were actually written by others. During the week Mike can be found at IKEA, where he is a national systems specialist and occasionally also in the classroom to teach an English lesson. In addition, Mike logically enjoys watching series and has actually been spoon-fed this from an early age. The genre doesn't matter, there is a place for everything in the otherwise busy life.
