In the short forty-second trailer, it becomes clear how a large ensemble cast of more than thirty boys tries to survive after being shipwrecked on a nameless island in the Pacific Ocean, without adult supervision.
Initially, everything proceeds orderly and civilized. The boys agree to work together, arrange food and shelter, and be good 'campmates.' Under the leadership of Ralph, played by Winston Sawyers, and with the support of the intelligent and thoughtful Piggy, portrayed by David McKenna, they try to create a form of structure and order.
However, tension soon arises when Jack, played by Lox Pratt, focuses on hunting and increasingly seeks power. Just like in the original book, the atmosphere shifts, the boys turn against each other, and we see how innocence gives way to tribalism, rivalry, and violence.
The four-part series Lord of the Flies premieres on Sunday, February 8 on BBC One, where a new episode will be broadcast every week at 9:00 PM. Simultaneously, all episodes will be available from the first evening on BBC iPlayer.
