Lost in Space (2018) - First episode
"A somewhat exciting first episode of the Lost in Space remake", that's how I describe the first episode of this new Netflix Original. After I had seen the trailer, I immediately became interested in the show. The drawback: I had to wait until the show was released. But let's not be sad, at the moment the show can be watched on Netflix and enjoyed by everyone.
For that person who reads this review before watching the series: a small spoiler-alert. The first episode starts off relatively calm. The Robinsons, consisting of mother Maureen (Molly Parker, 1922), father John (Toby Stephens, Black Sails), daughter Judy (Taylor Russell, Before I fall), daughter Penny (Mina Sundwell, #Horror) and son Will (Maxwell Jenkins, Sense 8), are playing a card game while they're on their way to their new home world: Alpha Centauri. On their way they lose control of their space ship and crash-land on a different, completely unknown planet. As the episode continues on, the Robinsons find themselves in an increasingly precarious situation.
The first episode manages to show what the series can be capable of. It shows the relationships between the family members, alongside all their issues. It was a bit of a struggle

To summarize: the first episode was somewhat exciting, and in the end I enjoyed it. Unfortunately I just wasn't that keen to watch episode two after watching the first. Eventually I did watch it, but not immediately after the first. The acting was decent, no complaints there. Taking everything into account: a good first episode, which I will rate with a 7.

Judy is stuck in the ice, with only a few hours of oxygen left, Maureen gets hurt as a result of the crash landing and Will loses his father after trying to find a way to get Judy out of the ice. Here Will discovers another ship that has crashed onto the planet. Point of interest: it isn't part of their fleet. It isn't even human.Point of interest: it isn't part of their fleet. to get through the episode, but it was worth it. I enjoyed the first episode. What keeps it interesting, was the introduction of characters such as Dr. Smith (Parker Posey, The Return of Jezebel James). The creators set up a lot for the coming episodes and they make you speculate about what kind of role various characters will have in the series.Introducing new characters makes the show more interesting.
