The dissatisfied ruler of hell, Lucifer (Tom Ellis), renounces his title and leaves his kingdom for the bustle of Los Angeles. There he soon finds the tension he sought by assisting the Los Angeles police in punishing criminals. In LA he befriends police detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German), who does not want to believe that he is the devil in human form. He helps her with various murder cases.

The fifth season of Lucifer consists of sixteen episodes. The season is split into two parts. When the first half appears at Netflix is not yet known, but it will be this year. It was previously reported that the fifth season would also be the final one. But Netflix has now confirmed that serious conversations are taking place regarding a possible sixth season. If it is possible to come to an agreement with the actors, the production on the sixth season will start in September 2020.
