The first ten episodes of Lupin revolved around the battle between Assane Diop and Pellegrini. Diop wants revenge, but has to fear for his life more and more. And those of his loved ones. When his son is kidnapped, he goes one step further and does everything he can to get Pellegrini behind bars. After a wonderful stunt, Diop succeeds in this and manages to stay out of the clutches of the police. He has to flee for that and it seems that he will have to leave Paris behind for the time being. But he promises his ex-wife and son to return.
Even before the release of the second part, season three of Lupin was announced. But what do we already know about that? We figured it out for Lupine part three.
For the third part of Lupin, a new story will have to be built, because the current case for Diop is actually completely completed. In principle, there are plenty of options, especially if you use stories from the books about Lupin. Diop is the most wanted man in Paris, which could become the main storyline. Is someone coming to hunt Diop again, or is there someone from Assane's past that he wants to work on? Have Hubert Pellegrini's powers not yet worn off and will he return? Or will another come on the scene that has a great theory going around…
Last Thursday, the release date for the third part/season was announced by Netflix. The third part of Lupin will release on Thursday 5 October. In addition, it has also become clear that seven episodes will appear. This is more than the previous parts, because the first and second parts of Lupin consisted of five episodes. Each episode will be approximately 45 minutes.
Now that Assane has gone into hiding, he must learn to live without his wife and his son. He realizes that his family has had to endure a lot of misery because of him and he decides to return to Paris to make them a proposal: to leave France and start a new life elsewhere. But the ghosts of the past are never far away, and an unexpected return turns his plans upside down.
Lupin and Sherlock Holmes are often mentioned in the same breath. In the books about Lupin, Holmes also appeared, who was hunting Lupin. This was changed quite quickly, as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's heirs were not happy about this. This is how he was renamed in Lupin's books in Herlock Sholmes. There are now strong rumors that a Sherlock Holmes type will appear in the third part of Lupin, creating a new game of cat and mouse. Who that will be is still unclear.
One thing is certain. Omar Sy will reprise his role as Assane Diop. In addition, it is obvious that mother Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) and son Raoul (Etan Simon) will be seen again in Lupin. After that, there are big question marks. Detective Youssef helped Diop a lot, will his role get bigger? Childhood friend Benjamin Ferel is Diop's right-hand man. Especially now that his house has been destroyed and all his materials, Diop will still need help from Benjamin. And Juliette Pellegrini returns, a flame that Assane can't let go of anyway. New cast members have not yet been announced.
At the beginning of March 2022, Variety suddenly brought the news that Lupin's recordings had been halted for a week. A group of twenty masked robbers had broken into the set, after an incident had already occurred with fireworks thrown at crew members. This happened in Nanterre, a suburb of Paris. A total of around 300,000 euros was stolen. Netflix confirmed the incident: “There was an incident on February 25 during the filming of the new season of Lupin. The cast and crew are safe and no one was hurt.” Due to a police investigation, the recordings were halted for a while, but then we are talking about a delay of a few days...
