Luther - Season 5
Love is like a sin, my love
For the ones that feel it the most
Look at her with her eyes like a flame
She will love you like a fly will never love you again
I was extremely disappointed after the ending of the fourth season back in 2015. Was this it for Luther, the ending of an amazing show. But luckily for its many fans, myself included, the show was renewed for a fifth season in June 2017. And that fifth season began on the 1st of January 2019, with only four episodes that were 59 minutes long.
Luther is trapped in his own misery, his truth and his own version of the truth. When he eventually figures out that the world isn't as black and white as he thought it was, it is already too late. Too late for Luther and everyone around him. DS Catherine Halliday (Wunmi Mosaku, Fearless) also proves to be quite capable as she is able to stand her ground alongside Luther.
But as always, Luther knows how to deal with crazy murderers. In this season the writers show us a serial killer who is unparalleled. The cruelty of this killer has no limits. It isn't strange that Luther knows how to deal with that. Gruesomeness and insanity are pretty much his thing. Unlike anyone else, he manages to explain exactly what is happening.
For the fifth season, you should make sure that you're ready to be surprised. By Luther, his colleagues and acquaintances and the murderer. Be surprised by the way it ends, because I feel as if Luther isn't done with the world and the world isn't done with Luther. This isn't that weird, because in December it was announced that there will be a film. Bring it on! However, a sixth season would be great as well. I just hope that we don't have to wait as long.
A 9.5 for a great and maybe final season. It doesn't get a 10 due to a couple of small editing mistakes.

The first episode starts off great. The series takes you through the wonderful mind of DCI John Luther. Through four episodes we see Luther struggle with what is right and with what he thinks is right. However, it's not as black and white as he thinks it is. The grey areas are obvious in the show, but Luther is unable to see them.Baby, you understand me now?

We know that Luther himself is a bit of a troubled person. Not in the first place because of everything he has experienced. The emphasis in the fifth season isn't on the murderer and finding him, he serves as the common theme of each episode. The emphasis of this season is clearly on Luther and his decisions and actions. Whether or not these are right or wrong is something the viewer can decide. If sometimes you see that I'm mad
