Mary & George - First episode
Mary & George is a costume drama full of sex, intrigue, murder and humor. What else do you want? I don't know about you, but I've seen so much promotion for this series. Since his role in Red, White & Royal Blue, Nicholas Galitzine (Chambers) has been 'hot & happening', as they call it. This queer costume drama was able to make great use of its moment in the spotlight in the run-up to the premiere. But is the series worth all that promotion (and commotion?)?
The first episode of this miniseries lays a good foundation for an intriguing story. Even though you may know and be able to look up rough facts (it is history, after all), the series manages to arouse the right interests and make you wonder what will happen next. As viewers, at the same time as George, you can taste the first temptations of power, sex, and freedom. But the first plans are also being made: how do I get to a higher rank? Mother Mary plays an important role in this.
I really enjoyed the first episode. And that is mainly due to the humor. I thought it was quite funny. Mary is a fantastic role and is portrayed wonderfully villainously by Moore. The dialogues are wonderful and incredibly strong. I'm curious to see how this will develop for the rest of the season. In addition, the costumes are top notch, the set is good and the cast is strong.

In summary: a wonderful costume drama. But a little more queer than others. The first episode gets a 7.5 from me!
We are in England at the beginning of the seventeenth century. Mary & George tells the true or untrue story of George Villiers (played by Galitzine), one of the 'lovers' of King James VI and I of England and Scotland (Tony Curran, The Calling). In the series we also follow his mother, Mary (played by renowned actress Julianne Moore, Lisey's Story), who does everything she can to help her second son achieve success in life. In the first episode, she sends him to France for education and enrichment. When he returns from France, George is soon shipped off to the king by his mother. That is the road to success.I really enjoyed the first episode. And that is mainly due to the humor. I actually thought it was quite funny.

In addition, Mike logically enjoys watching series and has actually been spoon-fed this from an early age. The genre doesn't matter, there is a place for everything in the otherwise busy life.
