Paramount+ has dropped the first trailer and revealed a spring start date for the upcoming season, which pits Renner's Mike McClusky against a fierce Russian mafia.
Season three launches Sunday, June 2 in the US and Canada and begins on Monday, June 3 in all other Paramount+ markets.
Season three comes approximately 18 months after a snowplow accident nearly ended Renner's life. The actor broke 30 bones when he was pulled under a snow-clearing tractor and crushed in a New Year's Day accident near his Lake Tahoe home. He was treated for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and was hospitalized for 16 days. Renner kept track of his recovery on Instagram.
Mayor of Kingstown was created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon. The series follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where incarceration is the only thriving industry. Mayor of Kingstown tackles themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, offering a grim look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a city that has neither.
According to the logline, Kingstown and its residents are rocked by a series of explosions in season three. A new face of the Russian mafia settles in the city and a drug war rages inside and outside the prison walls. Mike McLusky (Renner) is under pressure to end the war, but things become complicated when a familiar face from his imprisoned past threatens to undermine the mayor's efforts to keep peace between all factions.
Dillon also co-stars, co-starring Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley and Michael Beach.
