HBO Max has announced the premiere date for the new French Original series The Seduction (Merteuil).

HBO Max announced the arrival of a new prestigious French HBO Original series, The Seduction (Merteuil), during the Festival de la Fiction in La Rochelle. Simultaneously, six exclusive first images of the French series were released, showcasing the main cast: Anamaria Vartolomei as Isabelle de Merteuil, Diane Kruger as Madame de Rosemonde, Vincent Lacoste as Vicomte de Valmont, and Lucas Bravo as Comte de Gercourt.

The cast is further complemented by Noée Abita (Madame de Tourvel), Julien de Saint-Jean (Louis de Germain), Fantine Harduin (Cécile de Volanges), Samuel Kircher (Chevalier Danceny), and Sandrine Blancke (Madame de Volanges).

To save her own life, Isabelle de Merteuil will destroy those of others. As an orphan without fortune, she falls for the false promises of the libertine Valmont. Driven by revenge, she embarks on a relentless rise from the dark libertine underworld to the court of Louis XV. In her struggle, she defies men and their power, but ultimately, fate forces her into a heart-wrenching choice: love or freedom.

The series is a loose adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' classic Les Liaisons Dangereuses, but it explicitly focuses on the origins and motivations of Isabelle de Merteuil — one of the most iconic female characters in French literature.
