In the trailer for the second season, the main character, played by Amer, who co-created the series with Ramy Youssef, tries to return to the US from Mexico after getting tangled up with a pack of vicious coyotes at the end of the first season in 2022.
He’s still trying to get US citizenship to escape the challenges of being an undocumented immigrant in Texas, which brings more problems with asylum applications, earning extra money to support his family, and a rival trying to seduce his girlfriend.
There’s also the threat of deportation after a failed attempt to cross the border into Texas. “You are broke, you don’t have a job and your life is shit. I should slap you with this five in your face, bro,” his brother, Sameer Najjar, played by Omar Elba, tells a dejected Mo at one point in the teaser trailer.
And the series trailer contains even more slaps to Mo's face.
The logline reads: “ Mo Najjar straddles the line between two cultures, three languages and a ton of bullshit as a Palestinian on the path to U.S. citizenship. Season two finds Mo stranded across the border and desperate to get back to Houston before his family’s asylum hearing — but as a stateless refugee without a passport, he’s gonna need all the hustle and charm he can muster. Little does he know that the journey home is just the start of his troubles, and there’s a new guy in town ready to steal both his longtime love Maria and his dream of finally returning to Palestine.”
Mo's second season sees Teresa Ruiz return as Maria and Farah Bsieso as Yusra, while Hannibal Buress, Liza Koshy, Matt Rife, Ralph Barbosa, and Slim Thug are new guest stars.
