Premiere date and trailer for Peacock's sci-fi comedy Mrs. Davis

The trailer for Mrs. Davis highlights a nun's struggle to defeat artificial intelligence and unveils the sci-fi series, led by Betty Gilpin, ahead of its debut.

The upcoming series has received a lot of attention from the very beginning of development due to its premise, which depicts two very unlikely enemies. It also features outstanding talent both in front of and behind the camera. The sci-fi drama was created by Damon Lindelof, known for his work as one of the showrunners on Lost and the creator of the series adaptation of HBO's Watchmen (2019), and Young Sheldon writer Tara Hernandez. Betty Gilpin, known for her Emmy-nominated performance in GLOW, is leading the project.

The sci-fi series debuts on Thursday, April 20 with four episodes, followed by new episodes every Thursday. The trailer reveals the unique setup that awaits and offers an extended preview of Gilpin's main character and the interesting characters she encounters as she attempts to defeat the titular A.I. to stop.

Gilpin plays a nun named Simone, who goes up against an all-powerful artificial intelligence known as Mrs. Davis. She's joined by several familiar faces from TV dramas and comedy series, including Jake McDorman, known from What We Do in the Shadows as Simone's rebellious ex Wiley, and Margo Martindale, known from The Americans, who recently starred in Ryan Murphy's The Watcher is also seen briefly in the trailer. She plays Simone's Mother Superior.

Andy McQueen (Outer Banks), also seen in the trailer, plays Jay. The cast of Mrs. Davis also consists of Scream actor David Arquette, Elizabeth Marvel (House of Cards (2013)), Chris Diamantopoulos (Daisy Jones & The Six), Ashley Romans (Y: The Last Man), Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones), Mathilde Olliver (1899) and Katja Herbers (Evil). Behind the camera, Hernandez is the showrunner. She writes and produces the series together with Lindelof. Owen Harris (Black Mirror) and Alethea Jones (Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies) will direct multiple episodes.

The cast and creative team previously said that another streaming service passed up the project because of concerns about negative portrayals of algorithms. The trailer for Mrs. Davis adopts a jovial and energetic tone propelled by the rendition of "Livin' On A Prayer," but cleverly keeps plot details to a minimum. That could work, because the series is in a good position to deliver a surprise.
