Now she's back in the small town of Silver Falls, and that immediately raises a lot of tension and questions—particularly about her relationship with Alex Walter (Ashby Gentry). Her friend Grace (Ellie O'Brien) immediately asks, "Are you still with Alex? Because everyone's talking about it." Jackie's answer? "It's complicated."
The trailer reminds viewers that Jackie kissed Cole (Noah LaLonde) last season, which led to the end of her relationship with Alex and her sudden departure.
The Walter family parents, Katherine (Sarah Rafferty) and George Walter (Marc Blucas), try to welcome Jackie back. However, Katherine knows that Jackie's departure was related to what happened between her, Alex, and Cole. She encourages her by saying, "If anyone can handle hard things, it's you. Change is hard, but nothing stays the same."
Alex is still struggling with the situation and tells Jackie he needs time. Meanwhile, a new girl—a cowgirl of sorts—enters his life and teaches him dangerous rodeo skills. Grace is skeptical and wonders if that's all she'll teach him...
Meanwhile, Cole seems poised for a personal transformation. During breakfast, he surprises everyone by announcing that he wants to apply to college after all, something no one expected of him. However, he still harbors feelings for Jackie, as evidenced by a scene where he tries to remove a tuft of hay from her hair—a gesture she firmly rejects. In an emotional moment, Jackie reveals her disconnection from her deceased family, which makes her extra vulnerable.
