NCIS: Hawaii starts production again next week with LL Cool J as Sam Hanna

NCIS: Hawaii returns to production and brings back its traditional blessing for the series.
The CBS series will resume filming on Monday, December 4 after a traditional Hawaiian ceremony, the same way seasons one and two began filming.

The ceremony precedes the start of the third season on Monday, February 12. Parent series NCIS also returns to production in early December for the same start date.

In the third season of the spin-off series, LL Cool J (pictured) will reprise his role as Sam Hanna from NCIS: Los Angeles. Earlier this year it was announced that the rapper and actor would participate in the third season of the series

LL Cool J appeared in the season two finale as a special guest star in May, and this comes after NCIS: Los Angeles ended earlier this year after fourteen seasons.

He is expected to participate in the blessing alongside actors Vanessa Lachey, Alex Tarrant, Noah Mills, Jason Antoon, Yasmine Al-Bustami and Tori Anderson.

The series is set on the coast of Hawaii when NCIS Pearl Harbor's first female Special Agent takes command. Balancing their duty to family and country, she and her team investigate high-stakes crimes involving military personnel, national security and the mysteries of the island itself. The NCIS: Hawaii team is a skilled mix of mainland folks who've moved to the tranquility of the Pacific and seasoned locals who know the difference between mahalo and kapu.

Matt Bosack, Jan Nash and Christopher Silber are executive producers. NCIS: Hawaii is produced by CBS Studios.
