Corona crisis; which series to watch? Nienke de Boode's top 5

It has become a well-known image, empty supermarket shelves, empty squares and shopping malls. People work from home or not at all. How can you spend that time? We have made a top 5 displaying series you could watch in these peculiar times.
In my top-five, I've decided to add quite a few lesser-known and older series. The more recent and well-known series you likely already know, and if you don't, you can just take a look at the list of reviews, and that'll inspire you as well. The series that I've selected are, in my opinion, worth your time, but they've become less common due to the plethora of new series. And that's why I'd like to take a moment and think about these quality shows. If you've never seen them, now is your chance!

5. Covert Affairs

This series with CIA agent Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) will always stay one of my favourites. Each episode features a different story with a different mission in a different country. Lots of spy drama. The great thing is that most of the production took place in the countries where the story is happening. When the story took place in Amsterdam, they went to Amsterdam. This is a great and exciting series with a decent amount of girl power! A definite must-watch!

4. El Ministerio del Tiempo

This is not a well-known Spanish series, but that doesn't make it any less great! This Spanish government isn't one like all the others; they travel through time and go on missions in these different times. The goal is to keep Spain's history the way it's supposed to be. Each episode features an important Spanish moment in history or an important Spanish historical person. I managed to watch this series in a couple of days during the quarantine. The benefit is that you can state that what you're watching is educational. You're practising Spanish, and you learn quite a bit about Spanish history. Furthermore, it looks beautiful.

Nb: This series may be a bit difficult to find because it is Spanish, but it is definitely worth your time.

3. The Librarians (2014)

This is one of my all-time favourites, and that's the exact reason why this series is my background picture on my profile. Old myths receive a fresh coating. The Librarians (2014) try to save the world of all kinds of evil. The special effects are absolute crap, but it fits the style. You should be able to get a few laughs out, but at the same time, it is quite exciting. I still think it's a shame that this series was cancelled and that's why I recommend to all of you who haven't seen it; go and watch it! Simply entertaining!

2. Avatar: The Last Airbender

Isn't this an animated children series? Maybe that was once the original thought, but it has become so much more than that. The story is put together incredibly well and contains various wise life lessons. I've recently rewatched the majority of the series, and it is still as good when you're an adult, and maybe it is even better because you're able to recognize the depth and dilemmas. This will always be one of my favourite series!

1. Scrubs

I've always considered this series to be better than Friends, How I met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. Naturally, not everyone agrees, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. That's the exact reason why I've put this series in this list; it cannot go unnoticed even though it was one of the best comedy series of the past twenty years. Next to the series being ridiculously funny, there are quite a few serious moments. The fans will know what I'm talking about, especially once I drop the following quote "Where do you think we are?". Furthermore, I appreciate that the creators of this series have tried to make things medically correct. A definite recommendation, if you haven't seen it yet.

Nb: don't watch the final season, the average Scrubs fan will agree with me.

That was my top-five list. If this isn't enough, then I recommend Rizzoli & Isles or The Witcher. If that still isn't enough, don't worry. There will be more top-five lists coming soon!
