Corona crisis; which series to watch? Top 5 best royalty series

Many great, fun and interesting top-five lists have been released to fill the time we would usually fill with going out and visiting relatives. This great list has been made by Karin Witowski. Enjoy watching!
As our king and queen visit many health care institutions in our country and the outlet ribbons pour down, we get to take a look behind the walls of castles and palaces. We get to see how royalty lived in the olden days. Now, I will share this personal royal top-five.

5. The Last Kingdom

As Danes threaten the seven kingdoms of Great-Britain in the ninth century, King Alfred the Great rules the final kingdom of Wessex. Uhtred from Bebbanburg lost his castle and title after a Danish attack. He is raised as a Dane but also considers himself to be the Lord of Bebbanburg. He reaches out to King Alfred and proves himself to be a worthy commander and warrior. By doing this, Uhtred hopes to regain his title. The Last Kingdom was originally made by BBC but has now been taken over by Netflix.

4. The White Queen

The White Queen is a drama series from the BBC. The story takes place near the end of the fifteenth century, during The War of the Roses. The White Queen revolves around a battle for the throne between the Yorks and Lancasters. Do you like The Tudors? Then The White Queen is a show you must see. The story revolves around Henry the Seventh and his wife Elisabeth, the mother of Henry the Eight. The story of The White Queen is based on the books of Phillipa Gregory. She also wrote the books upon which two more series were based; The White Princess and The Spanish Princess. A beautiful franchise to watch in these quarantined days.

3. The Crown

The Crown is a Netflix original and one of the best-watched series of the streaming service. The story tells the tale of Elisabeth, her work, her private life, her struggles and shows the lives of those around her. In the first two seasons of The Crown, we get to see the younger years of Elisabeth. It shows how she and Prince Philip met, and eventually got married. In the third season, there is a time jump to the seventies and eighties. At this point, crown prince Charles is introduced.

2. Reign (2013)

Reign tells the unknown story of Mary, Queen of Scots. She is fifteen years old when she arrives in France, where she meets her fiance, Francis. It is tough to survive at the French court in the middle of ferocious enemies and dark powers. The French queen and mother of Francis, Catherine, is convinced that her son will die when he and Mary get married. She is therefore willing to use her considerable power to prevent the wedding. Reign is a beautiful costume drama, which has already been finished.

1. The Tudors

The best royal series, with a bit of blood, remains The Tudors, in my opinion. The house of Tudor is a great royal family in England. Of course, there were quite a few lords but Henry the Eight was one of the most famous, alongside his daughter Elisabeth. The story of Henry the Eight is fascinating. He is known for his many marriages; six in total. Unfortunately, he was also ruthless; two of his wives were executed via decapitation. The Tudors is an amazing series.

Next to this list of series, there are quite a few more that revolve around royalty. I've already mentioned The White Princess and The Spanish princess. If you're more interested in a series that is part scripted and part documentary, I'd recommend The Last Czars. Have you already seen these series, or are you more interested in a different genre? Don't worry. There will be more top-five lists coming soon.
