Status final seasons Empire and Supernatural

What's happening with both series during the corona pandemic?

Empire and Supernatural are both in their final season, but due to the corona pandemic production on both series has been halted and this can result in problems for both series. If all of this goes wrong, neither of them will have a next season to wrap things up properly.

Both series are already in the process of airing the final episodes of the season, so delaying the entire season is no option. They can't add episodes to the next season, as there's not going to be any. If the networks decide to stop airing episodes to wait for everything to be ready, likely, there will not be any new episodes this winter season. Choices have to be made.

The CW (Supernatural) and FOX (Empire) have options. They can decide to air the previously recorded episodes and end the series properly with a special, almost like a movie. A perfect example is how Netflix ended Sense8. A different option is to wait until the upcoming summer and then air everything.

For now, it isn't clear what the choice is going to be. If Supernatural is going to be halted for much longer, it could result in problems for Jared Padalecki's next project 'Walker'.

Which solution do you think is the right one?
