Showtime adds new cast member to The First Lady

Showtime is working on an anthology series about US politics. The network has now revealed who's going to portray Franklin D. Roosevelt. The First Lady is a new anthology series of Showtime. This is not the official title. The series was created by Aaron Cooley. Susanne Bier (The Undoing) will direct the episodes. She'll also serve as executive producer. Cathy Schulman (Angela's Eyes) will serve as shworunner. The series revolves around American leadership and is told from the perspective of the women at the heart of the White House. In the first season, the focus will lie on Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford and Michelle Obama.

Kiefer Sutherland (Designated Survivor) will portray Franklin D. Roosevelt in The First Lady. Next to Sutherland, the cast will further consist of Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder), Michelle Pfeiffer (Picket Fences) and Gillian Anderson (Sex Education). They will portray the lead roles in the series.
