Annette Bening cast in Peacock limited series Apples Never Fall

Annette Bening will star in Peacock's new series Apples Never Fall, returning to television after nearly two decades.
Bening starred in the HBO television movie Mrs. Harris from 2005, which earned her an Emmy nomination. Before that, she played herself in an episode of The Sopranos. Even further back, in the 1980s, she guest-starred on the series Miami Vice and Wiseguy.

Additionally, Chris Sweeney (Liar) has come on board to direct multiple episodes, including the first, of the series based on the bestselling novel by author Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers).

From writer-showrunner Melanie Marnich and Universal International Studios' Heyday Television, Apples Never Fall centers on the Delaneys, who from the outside appear to be an enviably content family.

Former tennis teachers Joy (Bening, pictured) and Stan are parents of four adult children. After decades of marriage, they have finally sold their famous tennis academy and are ready to embark on what should be the golden years of their lives. But after Joy disappears, her children are forced to take a fresh look at their parents' marriage and family history.

Marnich, Moriarty and Sweeney produce alongside David Heyman, Albert Page and Jillian Share. Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio, with NBCUniversal Global Distribution as the distributor.

Bening is a four-time Oscar nominee and two SAG Award winner who has starred in such films as American Beauty and The Kids Are All Right. Her next film roles are in Netflix's upcoming biographical sports film Nyad, from Oscar, BAFTA and Emmy-winning duo Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin and the mystery comedy Poolman, the directorial debut of Chris Pine (I Am The Night).
