Michael Chiklis cast in MGM+ thriller series Hotel Cocaine

Michael Chiklis (The Shield) will star in MGM+'s new crime thriller series. He plays together with Danny Pino.
Hotel Cocaine is the story of Roman Compte (Pino, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit), a Cuban refugee who fought Fidel Castro in the Bay of Pigs Invasion and rebuilt his life in Miami. He manages the Mutiny Hotel, the impressive epicenter of the Miami cocaine scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Mutiny Hotel was Casablanca on cocaine, a glitzy nightclub, restaurant and hotel frequented by Florida businessmen and politicians, international drug traffickers, CIA and FBI agents, models, sports stars and musicians.

Chiklis (pictured) will play Agent Zulio, who will do anything to stop the drug trade, even if he has to use innocent civilians to do so. The actor is best known for the crime series The Shield (FX) in which he played the detective Vic Mackey. In the 1990s, he starred in the crime series The Commish (ABC) in which Chiklis played the main character Police Commissioner Anthony Joseph 'Tony' Scali. Other series roles Chiklis had in American Horror Story: Freak Show (FX), Gotham (FOX), Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (HBO) and Accused (US) from FOX.

Chris Brancato created the series and will act as showrunner.

A premiere date for Hotel Cocaine will be announced later. It is expected to start this winter.
