Kevin Bacon will lead yet another television series. The actor from The Following and City on a Hill will lead the genre action series The Bondsman for Amazon's Prime Video. The drama, which scored a direct-to-series order, comes from creator Grainger David, whose short The Chair screened in competition for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and Blumhouse Television.
It's a return to Amazon for Bacon (pictured), who starred in I Love Dick.
Erik Oleson, who served as showrunner for the second season of Amazon's Carnival Row, will serve as showrunner for the eight-episode half-hour series, through his production company CrimeThink, which has a deal with the streamer.
The Bondsman centers on Hub Halloran (Bacon), a slum bounty hunter who returns from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, love and a nearly forgotten music career - only to discover that his old job now has a demonic new twist. . It is based on an original idea by David.
Production does not start until the labor negotiations have been completed.
David co-produces with Bacon, Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold and Chris Dickie for Blumhouse Television and Paul Shapiro for CrimeThink.
It's also Blumhouse's latest series for Amazon, the company behind the horror-drama series The Horror of Dolores Roach, which launches Friday, July 7 on Freevee.
