Jenny Slate stars opposite Michelle Williams (Fosse/Verdon) in FX's limited series Dying for Sex. Based on the hit Wondery podcast, Dying for Sex is the story of Molly (Williams), a woman diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer who leaves her husband of fifteen years and begins to explore her sexuality. She gets the courage and support to embark on this adventure from her best friend Nikki (Slate), who stays by her side until the end.
The series comes from writers Liz Meriwether (The Dropout) and Kim Rosenstock (Only Murders in the Building), director Leslye Headland (The Acolyte) and 20th Television, where Meriwether, Rosenstock and Headland are under overall contract.
Slate's character (pictured), Nikki, is cheerful and full of life. She agrees to be Molly's caretaker on her journey of sexual exploration in the face of death.
Meriwether and Rosenstock serve as showrunners and produce alongside Headland, Meriwether's longtime collaborator Katherine Pope, Nikki Boyer, host and co-creator of the Dying for Sex podcast, and Wondery's Jen Sargent, Marshall Lewy, Aaron Hart and Hernan Lopez.
Saturday Night Live alumna Slate recently co-wrote, wrote, produced and voiced the titular character in A24's Oscar-nominated film Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, based on the popular online short film Slate created in 2010 with Dean Fleischer-Camp. It was subsequently turned into a bestselling children's book series.
Slate will soon be seen in her new comedy special Jenny Slate: Seasoned Professional, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and A24, premiering worldwide on Prime Video on Friday, February 23.
She also recently appeared in A24's Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All At Once, for which she received the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, and starred in Prime Video's I Want You Back. Her extensive voice work includes Fox's Bob's Burgers and The Great North and Disney's Muppet Babies (2018) and films such as Zootopia and The Secret Life of Pets.
