At a time when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed, great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous exploits await these unlikely and incomparable friends.

The series has cast Peter Claffey (pictured, left) and Dexter Sol Ansell (pictured, right) in the lead roles of Dunk and Egg, respectively.
In April 2023, HBO said it had ordered another Game of Thrones prequel, titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. The prequel is based on the Dunk & Egg fantasy books written by George R.R. Martin.
Chronologically, it takes place about 72 years after House of the Dragon and about 100 years before Game of Thrones.
Claffey previously appeared in Apple TV+'s Bad Sisters and stars in season three of the Netflix series Vikings: Valhalla. Sol Ansell started his career in the British soap Emmerdale and appeared in Sky's The Midwich Cuckoos and the film The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
The series is written and produced by Martin and Ira Parker. Executive producers are Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris and Sarah Bradshaw.
The series will premiere in late 2025.
