Byron Bowers will play a role in Marvel series Wonder Man

Byron Bowers has joined the ensemble of the Marvel/Disney+ superhero series Wonder Man.
Bowers (pictured below) joins Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who stars in the title role. It is unknown who Bowers will play.

Daniel Destin Cretton will direct multiple episodes, as will Stella Meghie. Andrew Guest is head writer. Cretton also produces alongside Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

Created by writer Stan Lee and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby, Wonder Man was introduced to Marvel Comics in 1964 through The Avengers #9.

The character, also known as Simon Williams, is the son of industrialist Sanford Williams and takes control of his munitions company after his death. It sees its successes limited when it comes into competition with Tony Stark's Stark Industries.

The younger Williams gains ion-based superpowers, including super strength, while working under the villainous Baron Zemo and establishing himself as the antagonist of The Avengers, although he later decides to become part of that superhero team.

Bowers can currently be seen in the limited series Lady in the Lake, starring Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram and directed by Alma Har'el. He served as a consulting producer on the project, as the series is set amid racial and socioeconomic tensions in 1960s Baltimore. The series premiered July 19 on Apple TV+.

Bowers' other roles include Prime Video's Swarm and the Showtime series The Chi.
