James Spader is set to reprise his role as Ultron in Marvel's upcoming WandaVision spinoff series for Disney+. Spader (pictured below) played the role in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age Of Ultron. The role in the Vision series may not be voiceover, sources say. Terry Matalas is the showrunner for the new, untitled series, which is set to begin production in 2025.
Paul Bettany, who has appeared in three Marvel films and Marvel's WandaVision, will reprise his role as Marvel character Vision in the series.
Details about the new series haven’t been revealed yet, but the Vision series has been in development at Disney+ since 2022. At the time, we heard that the series would follow The Vision (Bettany) as he tries to regain his memory and humanity. While the focus will be on Vision, sources also say that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) could appear, which would make sense given how interconnected the two characters’ stories are in the MCU.
After being killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, Vision returned twice in Marvel’s 2021 WandaVision.
The new spinoff has been unofficially dubbed by some as the White Vision Project, after the most recent on-screen version of the character. Introduced at the end of episode eight of Marvel’s WandaVision, White Vision was created by S.W.O.R.D. by rebuilding and reactivating Vision’s body and was sent on a mission to destroy Wanda and her “Conditional” Vision.
The two Visions had an epic showdown in the ninth episode of Marvel's WandaVision. "Conditional" Vision scanned the memories of White Vision, who went through every moment of the normal Vision's existence in the MCU leading up to his destruction by Thanos. In a moment of clarity, White Vision declared, "I Am Vision," dove into the sky, and disappeared, setting up the potential spin-off.
