Yvonne Strahovski is set to star and produce a series adaptation of A Woman of Intelligence. The series is based on the bestseller by Karin Tanabe. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is developing the project together with Strahovski's Anovi Peak Productions. A platform has yet to be determined.
Tom Bidwell is writer and executive producer.
In the series, overwhelmed by the brutality and loneliness of motherhood, a 1950s housewife (Strahovski, pictured) finds a way to rediscover herself when she is asked by the FBI to infiltrate the KGB. But soon what started as a good way to find childcare turns into a nightmare and she realizes that the future of her family and the fate of the Western world is in her hands.
Nina Tassler, Joan Boorstein, Mel McKeon and Laura Myones will also produce for AFA/Prime Talent Media.
Strahovski has been nominated twice for an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for her role as Serena Joy Waterford in Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale. She was named Best Lead Actress in a TV Drama at the 2022 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards for her leading role in Netflix's psychological drama Stateless, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival.
Her other television roles include Fox's 24: Live Another Day, Showtime's Dexter, NBC's Chuck and ABC's The Astronaut Wives Club.
In addition to A Woman of Intelligence, Tanabe is the author of more than half a dozen novels, including The Sunset Crowd and The Gilded Years. A former Politico reporter, she is a regular contributor to The Washington Post, among others, and has appeared as a celebrity and political pundit on Entertainment Tonight, CNN and CBS' Early Show.
