Emmy Award nominee Phil Dunster stars opposite Steve Carell in HBO's yet-untitled comedy series. Set on a college campus, the series revolves around an author's (Carell) complicated relationship with his daughter.
The series comes from Bill Lawrence, Matt Tarses and Warner Bros. TV. Details about Dunster's role in the series are not yet known.
The first episode was written by Lawrence and Tarses, who are producing the series along with Carell, Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer of Doozer Productions. The series is produced by Doozer in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence's Doozer banner and Tarses are under overall deals.
In May, the series received a direct series order from HBO for ten episodes. The project reunites Dunster with Lawrence, who created Apple TV+'s hit series Ted Lasso, in which Dunster starred in the role of Jamie Tartt for all three seasons.
For his role, Dunster received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role for a Comedy Series in 2023. He will soon be seen in the second season of Apple's psychological thriller Surface. Season two is expected to launch in 2025.
Dunster recently made his directorial debut with Idiomatic, a short film he wrote, produced and co-stars with Kerry Godliman. The title premiered at this year's TriBeCa Film Festival and was recently awarded Best Comic Distortions as part of the SCAD Savannah Film Festival Shorts Spotlight.
