Poorna Jagannathan will play a recurring role in Lanterns

Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever) has been tapped for a recurring role in Lanterns.
Lanterns is an HBO drama series based on the DC comic Green Lantern. Jagannathan joins regular actors Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly Macdonald and Garret Dillahunt.

The series from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic agents who become involved in a dark, Earth-based mystery while investigating a murder in the heart of America.

Jagannathan (pictured) plays Zoe, who is effortlessly confident and poised in any environment, even when she stands out. She is as controlled and cunning as the influential men around her. Zoe is rumored to be a love interest for John. Macdonald plays Hal's love interest, Sheriff Kerry. Dillahunt plays modern cowboy William Macon.

The eight-episode series Lanterns is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Mundy, who serves as showrunner, Lindelof and King co-write and produce. James Hawes directs the first two episodes and is also an executive producer.

Since Zoe is a recurring role, Jagannathan was able to combine this with her series regular role on the upcoming Hulu comedy series Deli Boys. Jagannathan, known for her role as Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar in the Netflix comedy series Never Have I Ever, also played roles in HBO series The Night Of and Big Little Lies, Netflix series Gypsy, AMC's Better Call Saul and Defending Jacob for Apple TV+.
