Half Man follows estranged 'brothers' Niall (Bell, photo right) and Ruben (Gadd, photo left). When Niall's estranged 'brother' Ruben shows up at his wedding, it leads to an explosion of violence that catapults us back into their lives.

Spanning nearly four decades from the 1980s to the present, this ambitious series chronicles the highs and lows of the brothers' relationship, from their meeting as teenagers to their falling out as adults - with all the good, the bad, terrible, funny, angry and challenging moments along the way.

It will capture the wild energy of a changing city - a changing world, even - and try to get to the bottom of the difficult question... What does it mean to be a man?

Gadd called Bell “one of the greatest actors of his generation.” “When I wrote the show, I did it with him in mind, never thinking for a second we would manage to land him,” he added.

Half Man is also Bell's first television series for the BBC. He played the lead role of Abraham Woodhull in Turn: Washington's Spies for AMC and appeared in the limited series Shining Girls opposite Elisabeth Moss for Apple TV+. Two decades ago he won a BAFTA for the feature film Billy Elliott and subsequently made All of Us Strangers, Rocketman and Film Stars Don't Die In Liverpool.

The series was created, written and executive produced by Gadd, who also created, wrote and starred in the Netflix limited series Baby Reindeer. Alexandra Brodski and Eshref Reybrouck direct Half Man, which is produced by Wendy Griffin.
